First game of the 2s season was a home T20 match vs Ifield 2s including 2s debuts for Ukesh Mittal, Alec Hepburn, Charley Hepburn, Niall Murphy and overseas Akeem Ifill.
Winning the toss and electing to bowl we made a great start with firstly Bobby Barnes bowling Alex Dobson and a smart stumping from Dan Austin giving Dan Maskell his first wicket. Matt Graves and the experience of Graeme Dean rebuilt and it was their partnership that formed the basis of their final total of 140-7. Bobby finished with an excellent 4-19, Masky picked up 2 wickets and Akeem one. Charley, Alec and Niall all also put in a good performance with the ball in what is a difficult format for bowlers. In response we got off to a good start with Ukesh (14) and Dan Maskell (18) making good progress in the powerplay overs before both were out. Akeem Ifill came to the crease and struck an excellent 24 but no one else could really support him and we finished 103-9.
All in all a good start to the season getting a first game under our belts with some really positive performances from what was an inexperienced side for this level. We move forward to our first game of the season next week vs Haywards Heath.
