About Our Club

Our club is one of the leading clubs in Sussex playing their fixtures in the picturesque St John’s Park close to the centre of Burgess Hill. Burgess Hill Cricket Club are proud to have been appointed by Sussex County Cricket Club Foundation and the ECB as a Focus Club for this area of the county. Burgess Hill Cricket Club has achieved ECB Clubmark accreditation which confirms our commitment to a safe child friendly junior section. This year the club has worked with Sussex County Cricket Club and the ECB involving the club in excess of 100 hours of qualified coaching to children in schools around Burgess Hill. The work that the club undertakes in the local  Community was recently recognised when it won the Active Sussex Club of the Year award.

Senior Cricket

Since 2008 the club has competed in The 1st Central Sussex Cricket League. Our 1st  XI having achieved its highest ever position last season will again be playing in Division 2, the second tier of the League with our 2nd, 3rd XIs, both having gained two promotions in two years, and 4th XI in Divisions 4W, 8C & 11C respectively. This season we will also have a 5th XI playing in Division 12C. The 2023 season also sees the setting up of the inaugural Sussex Women’s Premier League. Twenty20 Cricket

Every season teams compete in the Sussex Cricket League Twenty20 competition and Ladies T20 competitions. Games take place mainly on Sunday afternoons

Youth Cricket

ECB Clubmark accredited with Sussex CCC Focus Club status, the club has a strong and vibrant colts’ Academy, with boys teams in the SAYCL Youth League (U’8, U’9, U’10, U’11, U’12, U’13, U’14, U15, U16) and girls teams at all age groups, U11, U13, U15 & U17 age groups. Our Youth teams participate in the Sussex Cricket Festival which takes place in August and the Lady Taverner’s tournaments. They also play friendly matches whenever possible. Summer outdoor coaching for the Youth Academy is held every Friday evening from 4.15 pm in St John’s Park under the supervision of fully qualified ECB coaches. Winter coaching and indoor nets take place at Hurst College from early February through to early April. The Club is committed to providing coaching and cricket to youngsters, girls and boys, of all abilities in a safe and professional environment. Social Cricket, Ground Hire

This season our club will be playing 4th and 5th XI games as we give more youngsters the chance to bridge the gap to, and gain experience of, adult cricket. As always, this year the club will host its annual President’s Day 6 a side tournament on Sunday 28th August, its Youth Presentation Day on Friday 21st July. Adult Net Sessions

The Club runs outdoor senior nets at St John’s Park every Wednesday during the summer season at 6.00pm. All seniors, new players and Under 15s and 16s are welcome. Our adult Winter net sessions will take place at Hurst College in 2024
