Our club is one of the leading clubs in Mid-Sussex and play their fixtures in the picturesque St John’s Park close to the centre of Burgess Hill. Burgess Hill Cricket Club are proud to have been appointed by Sussex County Cricket Club Foundation and the ECB as a Focus Club for this area of the county. Burgess Hill Cricket Club has achieved ECB Clubmark accreditation which confirms our commitment to a safe child friendly junior section. This year the club has worked with Sussex County Cricket Club and the ECB on the Chance to Shine programme involving the club in excess of 100 hours of qualified coaching to children in schools around Burgess Hill.
Since 2008 the club has competed in the Sussex Premier County League. Following the reorganisation of the Sussex League our 1st XI will be playing in Division 3E and the our 2nd, 3rd and 4th XIs in the Central Area in Divisions 6C, 9C & 11C respectively. In addition we have a Ladies hardball team playing in the Sussex League and a Sunday XI who play friendly games around Sussex. For fixtures click here.
Every season as well as entry into the Sussex Cricket League Twenty20 competition the club is invited to participate in the prestigious Henfield Twenty20 tournament which involves some of the leading clubs in the County. The team will play these games under the name of the Burgess Hill Buccaneers. Played early in June on Wednesday evenings this form of cricket is hugely entertaining and well worth a trip down to St John’s Park to watch.
ECB Clubmark accredited with Sussex CCC Focus Club status, the club has a strong and vibrant colts’ Academy, with boys teams in the SYACL Youth League (U’8, U’9, U’10, U’11, U’12, U’13, U’14, U15, U16 – U18) and girls teams at all age groups, U11, U13 & U16 age groups. Our Youth teams participate in the Sussex Cricket Festival which takes place in August and the Lady Taverner’s tournaments. They also play friendly matches whenever possible. Summer outdoor coaching for the Youth Academy is held every Friday evening from 4.15 pm and at weekends from Friday 13th April 2018 in St John’s Park under the supervision of fully qualified ECB coaches. Winter coaching and indoor nets take place at Hurst College from late January through to early April. Social Cricket, Ground Hire
This season our club will again be playing friendlies on Sundays as we give more youngsters the chance to bridge the gap to, and gain experience of, adult cricket. As always, this year the club will host its annual President’s Day on Sunday 26th August, its Youth Presentation Day on Friday 20th July as well as its inaugural Girls and Ladies cricket day on Sunday 8th July. Adult Net Sessions
The Club runs outdoor senior nets at St John’s Park every Wednesday during the summer season starting from April 11th at 6.00pm. All seniors, new players and Under 15s and 16s are welcome. Our adult Winter net sessions will recommence at Hurst College on Sunday 27th January 2019, 7.00 pm to 9.00 pm and again continue through until early April.
