On Sunday, the under 10’s travelled to Three Bridges CC for the ‘North’ section element of the 2017 Gilbert Cup competition. With several teams withdrawing at the last minute, the group comprised of Three Bridges, West Chiltington and Burgess Hill.

The first game saw us pitted against West Chiltington, batting first we managed 251for the loss of 3 wickets, with good knocks from Harry Hammond, Hayden Wickwar (including a monster 6) and Jacob Franklin all finding the boundary. West Chiltington scored 268 for the loss of 1 wicket, therefore winning the game by 17 runs.

The second game put us against the hosts, Three Bridges, bowling first we managed to restrict Three Bridges to 244, taking 7 wickets in the process, including a great run out by George Kaye from his own bowling. In reply we found runs hard to come by against a strong bowling attack and managed just 217 losing 3 wickets meaning a loss by 27 runs.

All in all some good performances over the two games, with newcomers Harry Hammond and Jacob Franklin both showing signs of improvement week-over-week and Millie Wickwar holding her own with the boys.
