U14 Boys

A good effort from the U14 Boys team yesterday evening against a good Henfield side. Batting first Henfield scored 96 for 4 with wickets for Freddie, Tristan and Ryan (2). In reply we scored 80 for 7, largely thanks to a superb 22 not out from Jack Simmons, well supported by Ryan and Katie Read lower down the order. Plenty of positives and a few things to work on but pleased with the commitment and lovely to see so many people supporting the team!

Jack Smart took a catch and produced 2 stumpings. Adam and James also pouched a catch each.

U13 Girls

A brave effort from a very inexperienced U13 Girls team who narrowly lost out to Brighton & Hove. Batting first we scored 309 for 2 (hardball pairs), Paige Gwynn top scoring with 15 and Amy Read 11. Brighton & Hove then scored 324 for 4 from their allotted overs with wickets for Amy Read (caught Molly) and Lydia Preston (bowled) and 1 run out each for Sophie Plimmer and Poppy Husbands. A valiant effort with 2 girls playing their first hardball matches (Hollie and Poppy), Millie Gwynn keeping for the first time. They more than made up for their lack of experience in enthusiasm and commitment and the girls couldn’t have given any more than they did, a fantastic effort!
