A good effort from the U14 Boys team yesterday evening against a good Henfield side. Batting first Henfield scored 96 for 4 with wickets for Freddie, Tristan and Ryan (2). In reply we scored 80 for 7, largely thanks to a superb 22 not out from Jack Simmons, well supported by Ryan and Katie Read lower down the order. Plenty of positives and a few things to work on but pleased with the commitment and lovely to see so many people supporting the team!
Great win for the U14 Boys last week at home to Poynings. Batting first we scored 90/3, Adam Drew top scoring for the second week running with 25 retired not out. We then produced an excellent bowling display to restrict Poynings to 54-8 with wickets for Tristan (3), Freddie (1), Harry (1), Katie (1), Ryan (1) and Mark (1). Jack Smart took a catch and produced 2 stumpings. Adam and James also pouched a catch each.
Well done Burgess Hill under 11 girls who took part in the 6 a side pairs cricket festival at St Peters today at a lovely Preston Park. The Coach is officially sun burnt!
Results were as follows;
Brighton and Hove 252 Burgess Hill 235 (L)
St James 231 Burgess Hill 234 (W)
Worthing 230 Burgess Hill 206 (L)
St. Peter’s 230 Burgess Hill 234 (w)
The girls did themselves proud, with some great bowling, batting and top fielding in their first cricket game of their careers !
Well done all
The Ladies finish 101-3 off their 20 overs vs Hurstpierpoint Hoorahs. Izzy Deamer 27, Emily Goss 20, Jodie Johanson 20. Hurst could not chase it down, win for the BHCC Ladies in the ECB Cup ! Andover away awaits us.
A brave effort from a very inexperienced U13 Girls team who narrowly lost out to Brighton & Hove. Batting first we scored 309 for 2 (hardball pairs), Paige Gwynn top scoring with 15 and Amy Read 11. Brighton & Hove then scored 324 for 4 from their allotted overs with wickets for Amy Read (caught Molly) and Lydia Preston (bowled) and 1 run out each for Sophie Plimmer and Poppy Husbands. A valiant effort with 2 girls playing their first hardball matches (Hollie and Poppy), Millie Gwynn keeping for the first time. They more than made up for their lack of experience in enthusiasm and commitment and the girls couldn’t have given any more than they did, a fantastic effort!
