Our U13 Girls won the Lady Taverners County Final on Sunday at Brighton Aldridge Community Academy. In the first match they recorded a score of 100 for 3 from 10 overs with Katie Read hitting 22 not out, Mia Pordage 20 not out and Amy Read 18. Amelie Palmer-Brown smashed a huge six in the final over to take the team total to three figures. The girls then bowled West Chiltington out for 41, Mia Pordage and Hannah Johanson taking 3 wickets, one courtesy of a great one-handed catch by Lucy McNiven. In the 2nd game against a Burgess Hill B team, Lily Freeman starred with both bat and ball as the girls recorded a 43 run win. The final game against Brighton & Hove brought a narrow, 5 run defeat although the wicket-keeping of Issy Cooper caught the eye as she snared an athletic catch in the dying overs. Two wins from three were enough to give the girls the trophy however. There were also notable performances from B team players Lydia Preston (27 not out), Millie Gwynn (2 wickets in an over and 14 not out), Paige Gwynn and Molly Hepburn.
